QD is hiring a People Lead (m/f/d) in Munich to build and scale the people operations backbone of one of Europe’s leading deep tech startups. In this role, you will design the structures, processes, and culture that help our team grow smoothly from 30 colleagues today to a much larger, globally distributed organization.

Founded in 2022 as a spin-off of TU Munich, QD leverages quantum sensors to rapidly capture three-dimensional current maps within multi-layer chips. Our 30-strong team of physicists, engineers, and data scientists works side by side with major semiconductor manufacturers, helping them in chip debugging and accelerating their yield analysis. What will you do
  • Run full-cycle hiring for technical and business roles, from defining requirements to closing candidates.

  • Build an onboarding programme that brings new colleagues to productivity within their first 90 days.

  • Design and maintain performance, feedback and compensation frameworks that align with QD’s growth goals and German labour law.

  • Coach managers on day-to-day people topics and organise targeted leadership-development sessions.

  • Set up scalable HR systems and policies—payroll, benefits, visas, reporting—as headcount rises in Germany and abroad.

  • Track engagement through surveys and metrics, then launch initiatives that improve retention and collaboration.

  • Advise the leadership team on organisation design, culture and compliance.

  • Manage external partners (recruiters, payroll providers, legal counsel) and build an internal People team as needs grow.

What is expected of you
  • Relevant professional HR experience, best case including time in a high-growth technology company.

  • Proven ability to create and refine people processes while balancing near-term demands with long-term scalability.

  • Strong analytical thinking combined with hands-on execution and ownership.

  • Empathy, clear communication, and fluency in English. German proficiency is a plus but not required
