Quantum Diamonds is looking for a proactive and structured Hardware Engineering Intern (f/m/d) to support our Product Development team for a 6-month internship. In this role, you will support in multiple R&D projects, collaborate with mechanical, electrical, optical engineers and physicists.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the mix of CAD design and hands-on operational work in a fast-paced deep-tech environment.

What will you do
- You’ll help design, build, and refine hardware systems for cutting-edge quantum sensor technology.
- You’ll create and maintain CAD 3D models and 2D drawings for complex semiconductor inspection solutions.
- You’ll support procurement, testing workflows, and technical documentation.
- You’ll contribute across the full engineering cycle - from early concepts to on-site commissioning.
- You’ll learn from a highly driven team what it takes to build great products.
What is expected of you
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field - or you bring several years of hands-on experience as an engineering technician or CNC machinist.
- You have hands-on experience designing and building mechatronic systems.
- You have experience with 3D CAD software and are excited to become a SolidWorks power user.
- You work independently, reliably, and you enjoy practical problem-solving.
- Bonus points if you bring practical skills like metal processing (milling/turning), model building, 3D printing, soldering, and improvising.
- You’re excited about optical systems and working in a lab environment.
- You take initiative and you like working in a structured way within a cross-functional team.
